Correspondence, Publications, and Subject Files 1980-1988.

This series contains records pertaining to The American Lutheran Church (TALC) involvement in Middle East ministries. They are from 1980-1988 and comprise typewritten and handwritten business correspondence, circular letters, topical reports and statements, and printed publications. The correspondence is generally from TALC missionaries serving in Egypt and Jordan, to the Secretary for Latin America and the Middle East of the Division for World Mission and Inter-Church Cooperation (DWMIC). It pertains to salary and other personnel issues and also provides periodic updates on mission work. There is also one folder with records pertaining to the Heliopolis Community Church in Cairo, Egypt where TALC pastors were serving. These records include correspondence regarding TALC involvement with the church, and copies of its constitution and statement of purpose. There are two publications included in this series. One is a joint TALC/Lutheran Church in America publication about mission work in the Middle East and the other is about Middle East Lutheran ministries. The second publication was written by Dennis Hilgendorf, but it is unclear where, when, or by whom it was published. Records are arranged alphabetically by subject.
